Rhett's Blessing

We blessed our baby boy Sunday, March 18th. Rhett was given a beautiful blessing by his Daddy and shared his special day with family. He looked so handsome in his blessing outfit and was such a good, calm baby that day. He became a little fussy that evening when I was trying to take pictures of him looking all adorable which is why he has his binks in in all of them. Little did I know that he was starting to get sick which we would later find out was RSV.

First family picture. Lola was in the midst of being really sick which we would find out was also RSV (and she was the one who gave it to Rhett). She was miserable come the afternoon and not too happy to have her picture taken, poor thing.

The most handsome boy ever! My grandma made the blue and white blanket before she had passed away. I was excited to find an outfit with blue trim to match it and borrowed those adorable shoes from a friend.

Tuesdays With Rhett

Trying out his new playmat

Rhett's first girlfriend, Maylee. They are 3 weeks apart. She is SO adorable!!

Check out that belly!

His first St Patrick's day. Lola dressed up too but had cousins in town and was too busy playing to stop and let me take her picture.

Rhett's first football. I hope he plays when he's older. That or basketball would be awesome but no pressure yet :)

One Month

Age- One month old!

Weight and height- 9 lbs 9 oz and 21 in

Hair- Lots of dark brown hair

Eyes- Dark Grayish-blue

Teeth- None

Size- Most newborn clothes still fit and he can wear a few pieces of his 0-3 months sized. Newborn diapers.

Eating- Every 3-4 hours during the day and every 3-5 at night. Is now taking Zantac presrciption for his reflux. Its helping much more than the Mylanta did and he seems to be feeling a lot better after meals. He can take a bottle from someone other than mom fairly well.

Sleeping- Sleeps about 5 hour stretches at night either in Mom's arms or the pack 'n play in Mom and Dad's room. Naps well during the day in his swing with a 4-5 hour nap between noon and 6pm.

Movement/development- Getting better at focusing and looking around. Is happy to lay on his back and look around quietly. Started the occasional tummy time- doesnt mind it for a few minutes. Getting better at holding his head up for longer periods.

Milestones- First bottle from Daddy

Favorites- Swing, being swaddled tight, being held, white noise.

Dislikes- Being cold, being gassy or poopy and baths.

He is such a good and easy baby. We are enjoying having him here and holding, playing with, and loving on him. Lola still calls him her baby and is all about helping take care of him and mommy him. It has been a pretty smooth transition from 1 to 2 and I'm so grateful. We're excited to watch our little man grow and learn and become his own person. Babies are awesome :)

Brooklyn Turns 9!

For Brooklyn's birthday this year, she wanted to go sledding at Gorgoza park. We decided to take Lola also and we all had a blast! I was grateful for a more mild weathered evening and that the girls only lasted about an hour and a half! The following weekend Brooklyn came over and we had cake and opened presents. I can't believe this girl is now 9!! She loves to read, loves Harry Potter, and is becoming more interested in nails, hair, and girlier things:) She is very sweet and caring and also a terrific big sis to Lola and Rhett! We love and adore our little girl and hope she has a wonderful year being nine!

Tuesdays With Rhett

Rhett's first Valentines

Rhett- Two Weeks

At 2 weeks:

Weighs: 7 lbs 3 oz
He has been a great baby so far. Never really cries just squawks. He has reflux and has just started mylanta for it. He seems to do better during the day- eating every 3-4 hours and sleeps the whole time in between. At night however, he is constantly eating because he refluxes all of his breast milk up then thinks he's starving again. And he will only sleep on me or in my arms! He dislikes having gas, pooping, diaper changes and baths. He still looks just like a mini Luke and I LOVE it. Its so cute. We are enjoying and loving our new baby boy and brother :)

Rhett's Newborns

Tuesdays With Rhett

Im using this idea off a girl's blog that I stalk: Basically it's just a weekly update and/or photo(s) of our handsome little man. We'll see how long I can keep it up. Its mostly for my viewing pleasure but perhaps to some of yours as well :)

Rhett's second week brought a few noteworthy things.

He took his first bottle of pumped breast milk from Daddy!

Had his first real bath after his umbilical cord fell off

Lola loves to help with Brother. Especially giving him his baths :)

Bonka, uncle Taylor, auntie Ally and cousin Landon also came out to visit for a couple of days. Lola loved playing with Landon. We wished we lived closer so they could play everyday

His first faux hawk style :)

Rhett- His name, Coming Home and His First Week

We didnt name Rhett until 10 minutes before leaving the hospital. We were back and forth on 2 other names (Miles and Dexter) the entire stay and finally decided that neither of those were right for him. Oddly enough, just a few days before he was born I had gone back through the baby name book looking to see if there were any other name(s) that stood out. I came across Rhett and was surprised to find that I kind of liked it. So we added it to our name list and said we'd think about it over the next few weeks. Well we never really had time to so after he was born, we werent considering it. But when we agreed that our original names didnt seem to fit, we started discussing Rhett. I honestly wasnt sure it was the right one either but within half a day, Luke was positive that it was. I wanted to go home and think about it some more but Luke put his foot down and said that Baby's name was going to be Rhett. And that was that. I'm really glad that we went with it because now it seems perfectly fitting for him. And we've gotten so many compliments on it. Its strong, masculine and very handsome sounding. Not too common (ranked #606 in the US) and not uncommon enough that you've never heard it or it sounds made up. I also think it goes well as a sibling name for Lola. And speaking of her, she calls her new baby brother Baby Rheet, which is adorable :)

Going home

He is a sleeper. I had to wake him up for nearly every feeding. He would however wake on his own to eat at night but would still sleep 4-5 hour stretches in between. He is a good and quiet baby so far. Doesn't really cry, just squawks a little, and only when he's wet, cold, getting his diaper changed or getting a sponge bath.

Antie Oobie and cousin Lincoln came to visit once we came home from the hospital. Lincoln was so in love with the baby and wanted to lay on the kisses and loves all day long. Seriously, every 15-30 minutes without fail, he'd come find the baby and give him more loves. And he was so so sweet and gentle with him. Super cute. I think Linc needs a new baby at his house too :)
Grammy aka Bubbe aka Nana loves her newest Grandson. She has been such a big help and Im so glad she was able to come out and stay for a while.
