Eleven Months!

Another month has come and gone and Lola is now 11 months old! In 3 short weeks our new baby girl will be turning One year old. Lame as it is, Im tearing up just remembering the day she was born, the day we brought her home and all the wonderful days between then and now. I am SO going to miss her being a little baby. And Im going to miss the monthly update and mini photo shoots too! Her 'shoot' this month was especially tricky however, as she kept trying to eat the paper, strangle her stuffed animal and stand up on her rocker. I was doing everything I could to get her to pay attention, hold still, and look at the camera long enough for me to snap the picture. Not an easy task :)

This month has gone by quickly partly because Im nervous for next month to come and to have my baby be a one year old and partly because we've been busy planning a first birthday bash for our soon to be one year old!! We've also had Easter, spring break, a trip to Denver and a very busy 10 month old keeping us on our toes. So I apologize for the week late post. Here is a quick update of Lola's going ons this past month:

Still crawling everywhere and is super speedy fast! Still pulling herself up onto furniture, people, and whatever else she can get a grip on. She can kind of creep along things but is really timid about doing so. Most of the time, she gets back down and crawls the few feet over to wear she wants to be. Im hoping this is not a sign that walking is even farther away than a few more months :)

She has 2 more new teeth making a total of 8! 4 on top and 4 on bottom. Very adorable!

She loves to point to everything with her 2 pointer fingers and when shes mad, she yells at things while shaking her pointers at them!

She can wave hello and goodbye although its more of a whole arm wave rather than just her hand. Still totally cute and I love when she does it on her own. The other day she waved to her shadow outside!

She's learned how to move and dance to music. She shakes her little body and waves and kicks her arms but you can tell she's trying to move to the beat/tune of the music. I really hope she did not inherit my or her fathers lack of rhythm and dancing skills. Neither of us have ever seen each other dance. Because we cant. It just happened that way and there's no need to embarrass ourselves or make anyone uncomfortable by having to watch us try :) I think our little Lola is going to love to dance and maybe she will be a little ballerina someday!

She still has not had her 'first' word. She can say Dadda, Momma, Hi, Hey, and Yeah but never intentionally. They just pop up once in a while in the middle of her babbling but one of these days shes going to get one out at the right time. I think her first word will be Doggie. She loves dogs and gets SO excited when she sees or hears one.

In the last month she has become VERY attached to her silky. She used to sleep with it every night then I started giving it to her at naps and on car rides. Now, she doesnt crawl around the house without it clenched in one hand or in her mouth. When shes falling asleep, she likes to feel the tags between her fingers and rub it on her cheeks or bury her face into it and sigh contently. It is the cutest ever! Ive been wanting to purchase another one in case anything happens to this 'lovey' but it was a gift from my baby shower and now they no longer sell this exact blanket in the store. So I researched it online only to find that some evil people are trying to sell the few pink ones remaining for $30 a piece (originally it cost $8 at walmart)!! I havent yet decided if her security silky is worth a days wage or if I should try and buy the yellow/green one and see if she takes to it...

She loves her little musical push walker. Every morning she wants to do some laps around the living room and down the hallways. She gets up with her little shaky legs and then once she gets a few steps in, shes off and pushing faster than her legs can follow! It is pretty dang cute (and funny). Ill have to post one of the videos of her soon.

She also LOVES to be outside. Now that its been warm a lot more, were outside just about everyday. We go for walks in the stroller or play in the front and back yard. Lola is actually afraid of the grass and doesnt like her feet or her hands to touch it. So we just sit on a blanket and play with toys and listen to the birds and doggies and work on our (my) sun-bathing. I cant wait for summer to get here so I can take my baby girl to the pool and see how much fun she has in the water!! I think someone will be getting a few pool toys for their birthday :)

Her sleeping and eating schedules are still about the same. She goes down for bed around 830 and wakes for a bottle between 4 and 6 am and then goes back down again until 8 or 830. She takes 2- 3 naps a day and each are about 1 -2 1/2 hours each (so usually about 3 hours of napping each day). And yes, all naps are still in her swing! She might be the only 11 month old who still uses a swing, for naps no less, but as long as she's getting her sleep and she goes down in her swing happily, Ill take it!! She has about 4- 4 oz bottles throughout the day (about 22 oz total including her morning bottle) as well as breakfast, lunch, a mid- afternoon snack and diner. She still does not like peaches, mac and cheese (jarred) and most recently, she does not like the jarred spaghetti. She eats most everything else and her favorites are pears, applesauce, peas, green beans, chicken noodle, vanilla yogurt and of course anything chocolate :)

Ill post once more next month with her updates from months 11- 12 and then after that, you get what you get as far as updates and pics. Which will still be as frequent (or more) because who doesnt love posts about our Lola Viola?!?

Denver- Spring Break

While in Denver, we hung out, ate lots of Easter candy, played with our new toys, and went to the park on the warmer days. We also had some friends from when we lived in San Diego (who now live in Denver) over for dinner on Sunday. Their daughter Ava and Brooklyn hit it off right away and the 2 girls played together Sunday night and then again on Monday and Tuesday. Brooklyn was in heaven to have a friend to play with (rather than just Dad and I) and asked each morning when her new best friend was coming over!! The girls got along really well and enjoyed being silly with each other, sneaking down to the basement to eat lots of candy in their clubhouse they made and getting into things that they shouldn't :)

Lola and Brooklyn at the park

I LOVE this pic of Brooklyn on the slide. She is getting to be the sweetest 7 year old ever not to mention she is already the greatest big sister to Lola! She has a super fun and outgoing personality and a GREAT sense of humor- she's always making us laugh. She is growing up so fast and while its fun to watch her change over the years it makes me sad and a little nervous to think that these cute, fun and silly days may be less frequent when the pre-teen days come around :)

It was really windy at the park this day and every time Lola attempted a smile, a gust of wind would get her in the face. Haha!

Brooklyn's self snapshot :)

Brooklyn 'enjoying' the car ride home to Utah. She was pretty good considering how long of a drive it was (about 7 1/2 hours) but we brought the portable DVD player and made sure to do the majority of the driving during the night so both of the girls would sleep! Those of you with little kids probably do the same because its insanity not to!!

Easter 2010!

This was Lola's FIRST Easter (and also her last first holiday) and it was a lot of fun! We went to Denver to celebrate at my parents and stayed from Saturday to Tuesday. We had so much fun and were sad to leave. I cant wait for next year when Lola will be old enough to be excited about spring and Easter and be able to color and look for her own Easter eggs :)

The girls with their Easter loot!

A tired Lola still trying to figure out what is going on :) We had to wake her up for baskets because guess who couldn't wait even 1 more minute or she was going to die?!? :)

Hard as we tried, we could not get Lola to wear (and pose) with her bunny ears. We even tried bribing with candy but these shots are as good as they got :)

Cousin Landon however, could not wait to show off how cute he looked in the bunny ears!! Isnt he the CUTEST little chunk EVER?!? He turned 3 months old on Easter Day and at 14+ pounds, he is getting close to passing up Lola!!! I cant believe how fast he's growing up and am sad that we live so far away. We dont get to see him nearly enough! He is just the cutest, most handsomest, little man and we love him :)

Ten Months!

Stats:
16.1 Lbs - 4th Percentile
27 Inches long - 17th Percentile
17.6 Inches Head Circumference- 60th Percentile

Our baby girl is now 10 months old. This has been the hardest month for me to accept. Maybe because its a double digit number or just that its only 2 months until Lola turns 1 year and it seems so much closer than it did last month. I don't want my baby turning one because then she wont (technically) be a baby anymore and people and Doctors will refer to her as a Toddler. That will make me really sad... She is finally growing (height wise that is) and so she seems bigger to me all of the sudden. Plus, shes accomplishing new things just about everyday now. Soon I wont be able to keep up with all her new developments but for now, I try to take note of every(little)thing. Some of Lola's accomplishments from last month are:

Learning to crawl! She went from nothing, to getting up on her hands and knees, to full on crawling all in about one weeks time. I honestly thought she would never learn to crawl and even her Dr had said she might just skip it all together, so we definitely werent expecting it! And she is already cruising around like a pro :) She can get from one end of the house to the other in under a minute and just as I dreaded, she is everywhere all the time and getting too quick for me to ever leave her in one spot anymore! We bought a baby gate for the top of our stairs and thought we had at least another month or longer before having to buy one for the bottom but just 2 days ago, I walked away for a few minutes only to come back and find that Lola had crawled up 4 stairs all by herself! So, we put up the second gate yesterday. As well as 'baby proofed' the entire house last week. This is a Yay and Grr time for me right now... I love that she is growing and learning and becoming independent but Im sad about it being too fast and Im trying to (happily) accept that she is going to be into everything all the time now until she is like 2 or 3. I was really hoping she would just stay 8 months old forever. Agh! Do any of you other moms feel like this with your babies?!?

Pulling herself up onto furniture. Shes been trying for almost 2 months now, but just this week shes learned to get all the way up to standing and as I mentioned above, she can now climb stairs!

In the last month, Lola has cut her 2 upper central teeth, her left lateral incisor and any day now will be cutting her right lateral incisor. That's 6 teeth (4 this month) total! They're definitely cute, but yet another reminder of how big my little baby is getting :) She has been pretty crabby this past week or so and I pray that after this next tooth cuts through, shell get a break before her lower incisors come. I miss my always smiley, happy baby.

Her favorite thing right now is playing peekaboo. She loves to put her blanket, shirt, bib, or anything really, over her face and just sit there while you say "Wheres Lola?" and then she pulls it down and grins like crazy when you say "There she is!" It is so cute and one of these days Ill try to get it on camera for you all to see :) Other things she loves to do lately are pull her Momma's hair every chance she gets and fighting having her diapers changed. Trying to change dirty #2s without getting it on myself or the surrounding area is quite the challenge these days and who knew our little peanut could be so strong?!

Lola is completely on the bottle now and slowly weaning from baby food to table food. Im pretty sure she could give up the jarred food today and never look back, but again, its another thing that Im not quite ready to let go of yet. Am I totally weird and lame? Probably, but I cant help it...

So thats whats new with our Lola Viola (as her Daddy likes to call her). Only 2 more posts left with pictures of her in her rocker with her pink stuffed Giraffe and then she will be 1 year old!!!!
